Wagon Review: Beau Jardin Folding Wagon Cart
Folding wagons sure have changed over the years. Originally, the first collapsible style pull carts were flimsy and awkward with cheap wheels and minimal weight capacity. Today, folding wagons have come a long way in their capability, ride, safety, and overall value. This new wagon category has become very popular because of its utility and transport capabilities. One collapsible wagon that has caught our eye is the Beau Jardin Folding Wagon.
The Beau Jardin Folding Wagon Cart
Finally, a folding wagon comes with wide knobby-like tires that can handle a bit of off-road terrain. Although not quite as capable off-pavement as the traditional wood and metal beach wagons, the Beau Jardin can still carry its own weight (and more) when put through its paces. These folding all-terrain-styled wagons are great for carrying lighter loads over grass, gravel, and light sand.
With its canvas body, we suggest more human cargo rather than trying to haul firewood or gardening supplies around the homestead (a utility metal wagon or wood bed wagon would be better for you in that case).
Now there are other Beau Jardin models with skinny tires but we suggest going with the wider wheels for stability and the occasional dalliance off-pavement.
Features and Benefits of the Beau Jardin folding wagon cart:
- Big capacity: Dimensions 34″ x 20″ w 26″h. Inside dims are approximately 31″ x 17″ x 10″.
- Cup holders and extra storage capabilities
- Sun Shade Canopy
- Weight capacity: 300 lbs
- Fabric material: 600D polyester – removable for easy hand washing
- Oversized wheels: At 7″ tall and 4″ wide, these are considered wide for the folding wagons
- The telescoping handle also has a clip to hold it stable in the upright position
- Easy to use: Sets up in seconds and is small enough to fit in most compact cars and trunks
On our test drive, we traveled off the sidewalks onto grass, gravel, and dirt trails where it performed nicely. We also took it down to the beach and hauled our toddler and all of her accouterments for a day at the beach across yards of deep dry sand in Southern California.
We were pleasantly surprised with its capabilities and found the ride to be similar to one of our other favorite folding beach wagons, the Mac Sports Folding Wagon. We especially loved the utility of the wagon while enjoying our beach outing and being able to provide a shaded nap area for our daughter. It definitely made the day more enjoyable (and longer) for Mom and Dad because when the kids are happy, everyone’s happy, right?
Our Take: The Beau Jardin Folding Wagon Cart
This Beau Jardin wagon is on top of our list when it comes to people moving across the pavement and light off-road terrain. If hauling non-human cargo across uncertain terrain is in your forecast, then opt for a metal bed or wood bed all-terrain wagon to get the job done.
The long-term reliability of the folding mechanism is of concern here and we suggest keeping the rust away by hosing the salt off the wagon whenever hitting the beach (it’s in the air too). After cleaning and drying the wagon, be sure to hit the metal parts with a spray of WD-40 or other light lubricants.
With all the extra storage, bottle holders, and shade capabilities we’re giving this one a thumbs up when it comes to All Terrain Folding Wagons that can tackle the sand and beach.
